Riot is closing out the year on Wild Rift with a big one. Patch 7.3, subtitled Center Stage, lands on September 22, 2026 (UTC), and it’s leaning hard into a music theme while packing in some of the meatiest changes the mobile MOBA has seen in a while. Three new champions. A chaotic three-team game mode. Another ranked shake-up, plus tweaks meant to speed up how matches actually feel. If you play the pocket-sized version of League of Legends, this is a patch worth clearing some space for.
Here’s everything Riot has lined up for Center Stage, from the champion roster to the reworked Smite.
Three new champions hit the Rift
The headline additions are Hwei, Sylas, and Rek’Sai, three faces that PC League veterans will know well. Hwei, the Visionary, is a control mage with an unusually deep kit, painting his spells onto the battlefield and stringing combos together in ways that reward players who like options. Lots of them.
Sylas, the Unshackled, arrives as a burst-focused mage built around one of the most disruptive ultimates in the game. He steals an enemy champion’s ultimate and turns it back on them, which makes him a nightmare against compositions leaning on a single game-changing button. In the right hands, he’s chaos. Rounding out the trio is Rek’Sai, the Void Burrower, a fighter designed to tunnel around the map, dive into fights, and hunt down stragglers without mercy. Riot hasn’t pinned down the exact release date for each champion within the patch, so expect them to roll out on a staggered schedule.
Rift Rumble turns the map into a three-way brawl
The mode everyone’s going to be talking about is Rift Rumble. It drops the usual five-versus-five structure and instead pits three teams of three against each other on a brand-new symmetrical map. The twist is the goal. You’re not sieging towers or cracking a base here. The whole point is combat, plain and simple, so the map is built to funnel squads into constant skirmishes with two rival teams breathing down your neck.
Rift Rumble also folds in Augment Stones, which let you fundamentally reshape your champion’s abilities on the fly. Fighting to claim them adds another layer to the scramble. The music theme spills over into AAA ARAM as well, which gets its own music-flavored season and dozens of fresh Augment cards to shuffle through.
Riot is speeding matches up
Center Stage keeps Riot’s ongoing effort to tighten up match pacing. A few changes push the tempo forward. Super minions and cannon minions get stat boosts so they hit harder when they siege, and destroying an enemy turret now grants your allied minions bonus Attack Damage to help the push snowball. Take a tower, and the lane pressure follows.
Two bigger swings sit underneath those minion tweaks. Smite is getting reworked, swapping its old bonuses for persistent burning True Damage that scales with your stats, which changes how junglers clear and duel around objectives. Epic monsters, meanwhile, gain increased resistances, turning them into bigger teamfight anchors that both teams will want to contest rather than casually poke down. Together these changes nudge Wild Rift toward faster, fightier games.
Ranked gets another overhaul
Ranked grinders have more to chew on. Legendary Ranked is picking up a round of changes, including a simplified seasonal entry threshold for players who previously hit Grandmaster. Riot is also adding a new trial system that lets high-performing players climb through Legendary Commander faster than the standard grind allows. If you’ve been stuck spinning your wheels near the top, this one’s aimed at you.
The new ranked season hands out a Milio skin as a reward, while this patch’s Wild Pass headlines with the delightfully odd Pencil Sharpener Kog’Maw. Both give you something to actually chase while the changes settle in.
The Center Stage skin line
Skin collectors have a handful of new looks to budget for this patch. The currently confirmed lineup is Pencil Sharpener Kog’Maw, the Ranked Reward Milio skin, a Special Worlds Volibear skin marking the esports season, and Winterblessed Hwei to welcome the Visionary onto mobile. It’s a smaller drop than some seasons, but the Worlds Volibear in particular is the kind of cosmetic that tends to move fast.
When it drops and where to play
Wild Rift Patch 7.3: Center Stage goes live September 22, 2026 (UTC) on iOS and Android. The game is free-to-play, so there’s no barrier to jumping in beyond the download and, let’s be honest, a bit of storage space. If you’re after another mobile MOBA to sit alongside it, take a look at Honor of Kings, or dig into the ever-sprawling Dota 2 if you want the deep end of the genre. For the full patch notes once they’re published, the official Wild Rift site is the place to watch.
