Even the gods aren’t safe anymore. Marvel Rivals Season 10, subtitled Butcher’s Blasphemy, goes live on September 11, 2026 at 9:00 AM UTC, and it drags one of Marvel’s nastiest villains onto the roster. Gorr the God Butcher arrives as the game’s 54th playable hero, a melee-focused Duelist swinging the first symbiote, All-Black the Necrosword. He’s the only new character this season, and NetEase clearly wants him to make an entrance.

Alongside Gorr comes a full rank reset, a fresh Battle Pass, a sweeping balance pass, and a new map tied directly to his crusade. Here’s everything landing in Season 10, and what it means for the free-to-play hero shooter going forward.

Who is Gorr the God Butcher?

If the name rings a bell, that’s probably Christian Bale’s doing. Gorr headlined Thor: Love and Thunder as the film’s villain, but he started life in the Thor comics as one of the most chilling antagonists Marvel has ever printed. His whole deal is right there in the title. Once a devout believer, Gorr lost his faith after the gods ignored his suffering, then picked up the All-Black the Necrosword and set out to kill every deity in existence. Grim stuff, and a natural fit for a game that keeps mining darker corners of the Marvel universe.

In Marvel Rivals, that lore translates into a hero who hunts the enemy backline and turns your kills into an army. The Necrosword can reshape itself into different weapons mid-fight, and Gorr uses that flexibility to bounce between ranged pokes and brutal melee bursts.

How Gorr plays

Gorr is a Duelist built around his Black Berserkers, symbiote minions he spawns by defeating enemies and then commands around the fight. His primary, All-Black, is a rapid four-strike combo. Necro-Power launches a symbiote mass that slows a target and either yanks nearby Berserkers to them or spawns a fresh one. He can lob standalone Berserkers, warp to an existing minion for bonus health with Shadow Harvest, and surge across the map as an invincible symbiote blob with Living Abyss. His passive quietly feeds him bonus health whenever those minions land hits.

The showstopper is his ultimate, Twilight of the Gods, which transforms All-Black into the Annihilablade. It instantly spawns a Berserker next to every enemy in range, keeps your existing minions from expiring, and turns his slashes into something genuinely terrifying. There’s also a team-up with Venom that buffs Berserker damage and slaps a slow on anyone they hit. If you’ve logged hours in Overwatch or Team Fortress 2, the hero-shooter fundamentals will feel familiar, but Gorr’s summon-heavy, health-siphoning kit plays unlike anything else on the roster.

The story so far

Gorr’s reveal ties a neat bow on a mystery that’s been simmering since Season 9. That season’s finale showed a shadowy figure wielding the Necrosword cutting down both Apocalypse and Khonshu, with Loki vanishing in the aftermath. Turns out the culprit was Gorr all along, and the blade he used shows up right in his kit. His campaign against the gods of Thebes is behind him now. Yggsgard is next on the list.

That crusade also brings a new battleground. The God Quarry, a Domination map connected to Gorr’s story and his Faith-Harvesting Engine, arrives later in the season with the September 24 update rather than at launch. It’s a slower rollout than some players might expect, so keep that date in mind before you go hunting for it on day one.

Battle Pass, skins, and seasonal events

A new Battle Pass launches with the season, stuffed with cosmetics for a wide spread of the cast. Expect fresh looks for Psylocke, Captain America, Blade, Doctor Strange, Squirrel Girl, the Punisher, White Fox, and more. If you missed it the first time around, the Season 4 Battle Pass is also making a limited-time return between September 11 and September 24.

The events roll out in waves rather than all at once. Pajama Party costumes drop at launch. The September 18 update brings the Jeff’s Dream Eater and Jeff’s Superstar Seeking events for anyone who can’t get enough of the little land-shark. Then September 24 adds the God Quarry map and the return of Galacta’s Gift, this time with a Costume Coin. Twitch drops round out the giveaways for viewers who like watching as much as playing.

A massive balance shake-up

Season 10 isn’t just a new face. NetEase went hard on balance, touching a huge chunk of the roster. The headline change is a full Scarlet Witch rework, with her abilities, passive, and ultimate all functioning differently than before. Spider-Man is getting reworked too, so mains of either character should head into the patch notes with an open mind and a willingness to relearn some muscle memory.

Competitive players have more to adjust to. Season 10 resets ranks, dropping everyone down several divisions, which means the climb starts over the moment servers come back up. That’s standard seasonal practice for the game, but it’s worth bracing for if you finished Season 9 sitting pretty.

When and where you can play

Season 10 launches September 11, 2026 at 9:00 AM UTC, though NetEase has flagged at least two hours of maintenance beforehand, so you won’t be able to jump in the instant the clock ticks over. Marvel Rivals is free-to-play across PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X and S, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version reportedly in development. The Battle Pass is the only thing you’ll pay for, and even that’s optional.
