Space Quest: Vohaul Strikes Back is a free, fan-made sequel that continues Roger Wilco’s story after the official series ended with Space Quest 6. Sludge Vohaul is back, with his mind now installed in a robot body. Roger lands on the icy planet of Radon, his ship is wrecked, and his fiancée Beatrice Wankmeister is snatched by Vohaul’s goons. To get her back, he has to lead the planet’s natives, the Furkunz, in a revolution against an army of simian commandos. Then he has to break into Vohaul’s fortress and, eventually, into Vohaul’s mind itself.
A volunteer group called Team VSB built it in the Adventure Game Studio engine, with 2D animation done in Flash and 3D animation done in Maya. It launched on December 22, 2011, the same month as Infamous Adventures’ Space Quest II remake, and the download page was updated to version 1.0.3.0 in January 2012. Several of the creators also worked on Space Quest: Incinerations, another fan sequel, which followed weeks later.
It earned real recognition. The game won Best Non Player Character at the 2011 AGS Awards, and it was nominated for Best Gameplay, Best Background Art and Best Music. Just Adventure’s review recommended it to every Space Quest fan.

Yes. Vohaul Strikes Back is freeware, with no price and no microtransactions. The team says it never intended to make money from it and that it will always stay free, and it asks anyone who paid for a copy to report the seller. It’s an unofficial fan project. Activision owns the Space Quest name.

It’s a full-length point-and-click adventure in the Sierra tradition, with the sarcastic narrator and cheerful cruelty to match. Some players say the puzzles are gentler than Sierra’s, but they still call for some thought.
